Nov 19, 2024Reflection Practices
- Journaling Prompts
* "What is something my body has allowed me to do that I’m grateful for?"
* "How does my body feel after movement that brings me joy?"
* "What limiting beliefs about my body or food am I ready to let go of?"
- Self-Compassion Letter
* Write a letter to yourself from the perspective of a kind friend. Focus on celebrating your resilience, acknowledging struggles, and encouraging self-love.
- Daily Check-In
* Ask yourself: What does my body need today—rest, movement, nourishment, or connection?
* Reflect on how honoring your needs feels empowering.
- Body Neutrality Mirror Practice
* Stand in front of a mirror and focus on what your body does rather than how it looks. For example, “My legs help me walk and explore.”
Empowerment Activities
- Create a "Strength in Midlife" List
* Highlight skills, wisdom, and resilience you've gained with age. Discuss how these empower you to navigate this phase of life.
- Movement with Intention
* Try workouts that feel empowering, such as strength training (to feel strong) or dance (to feel free and joyful). Encourage them to reflect on how the activity makes them feel, not just physical results.
- Visualization Exercise
* Visualize your future self thriving. Imagine how she moves, feels, and lives. Use this vision to inspire actionable steps toward feeling strong and fulfilled.
-Create an Empowerment Affirmation
* Examples: * "I trust my body and honor its signals."
* "I am more than my appearance—I am capable, wise, and strong."
* Group Support or Workshops
* Host a virtual or in-person event where participants share their stories, reflect on their journeys, and celebrate their progress.
